25: A Spooky Update
I've moved from Substack to Ghost! If you're a current subscriber, whether free or paid, nothing should change for you. If you have any issues, drop me a line and I'll make it right.
What I talked about:
We reviewed Black Adam on this week's episode of Seeing & Believing. Just in time for Halloween, Kevin introduced me to the movie 28 Days Later, a movie that's making me rethink my stance on zombie movies in general. We got into it a little on the episode.
What I watched:
I caught most of The Bourne Ultimatum the other night. I have a soft spot for it because it was one of the first action/spy thrillers I ever watched, but every time I see it, I find something new to appreciate. This time it was the sharpness of the editing; it's one of the few movies to pull off near-constant handheld shaky-cam, and the choice works because the editing never pulls its punches.
What I'm reading:
I'm in the thick of It Came from the Closet: Queer Reflections on Horror, an anthology of essays about horror movies from Jennifer's Body to Godzilla by LGBTQ writers.
