I’m Sarah Welch-Larson, a film critic and writer living in Chicago. I write about the things that scare me a little: horror movies, theology, and sometimes myself. I’m curious about the messy depths of feminist theory and genre fiction and the business of being alive. If that sounds like something that interests you too, come join me in my little patch of the internet. Let’s go flip over some rocks and see what weird bugs we can find.

Regular roundups of what I’m writing, thinking about, watching, and reading will be sent out every weekend. These issues are free. I’ll be sending out the first edition next week.

In-depth essays will be sent out monthly. These are the posts where I’ll want to get my hands dirty—to dig deep, to stretch, to garden my own thoughts about something I’m wrestling with. Usually they’ll be about movies, but I’ll branch out into other topics too. These issues will be for paid subscribers only.
